A Swedish Gustavian chandelier made ca 1810
A Swedish Gustavian chandelier made around year 1810. It has six candleholders around the ring and one inside the white bowl at the chandeliers bottom. This was called the saving light. Candles were expensive in those days and usually you just lit one candle or sometimes every other candle in a chandelier. The metal is brass that is gilt. At the top it has a so called bishops hat because of the shape. The ring has typical Gustavian decorations in the shape of lion heads.
It has a unusual bottom with a white small bowl. This is rare.
