A Swedish Neoclassical Chandelier, Ca. 1790.
Swedish neoclassical ormolu and cut-glass six-light chandelier made in Stockholm circa 1790. The corona issuing droplet-hung sprays and hanging from it are cut-glass chains, the main circlet with ormolu lion heads mounted is attached through four gilded rods mounted on a silvered center rod. This model is quite unusual and an early example of the late Gustavian chandeliers which would be hung more heavier with cut-glass chains and more. This is a more refined type of chandelier than the later Gustavian ones.
