Swedish Rococo Polished Brass and Cut-Glass Chandelier, 18th Century
A small Swedish rococo polished brass and cut-glass four-light chandelier, 18th century. The brass cage hung with cut-glass pendants and other shapes. A very nice example with drop-shaped crystals. This type of pendants was used in the last quarter of the 18th century. The center stem dressed with blown glass pieces ending below with a cut-glass boll. The small size is quite unusual. This type of Swedish chandeliers with some small differences was made during both the Swedish Baroque, Rococo periods and into the Gustavian period and the model was very popular. This one is probably made in Stockholm around 1780. It is in a very good condition newly restored and all cut-glass is from the period.
