Baroque-mirror made around year 1700. Attributed to Burchard Precht Stockholm.
A untouched baroque-mirror made around year 1700. It still has its original mirror glass that is exclusive and rare with its cut edges. Around the mirror glass is a frame of amber coloured glass which is also is extremely unusual. The patina is remarkable and beautiful. To find such an untouched piece is not easy to do.
During this time there was not that much furniture in the interiors and mirrors were among the most expensive things there were.
This mirror is most probably made by Buchard Precht.
Precht was born in Germany. In 1672, he went to Sweden at the suggestion of Nicolaes Millich, who was assisting in the decoration of Drottningholm Palace just outside Stockholm. In 1681 he became court sculptor. Together with Tessin, Precht introduced the gilded Baroque style to Sweden.
During this time there was not that much furniture in the interiors and mirrors were among the most expensive things there were.
