Konrad Simonsson, Three Swedish Summer landscape paintings, signed and dated 1889.

A suite of three Swedish summer landscapes by Konrad Simonsson (1843-1911) Oil on canvas. The three piece suite framed together in one frame. Two paintings signed and dated 1889. He studied at the Royal Academy of Liberal Arts in Stockholm 1867–1873. During the period 1873–1874 he traveled to Värmland, Dalsland and Norway, after which he continued to other parts of Sweden; in particular he stayed on Gotland. He participated in the Gothenburg Art Association’s exhibition at Valand in Gothenburg in 1891.
Simonsson taught students who were preparing for entry to the Art Academy but was also was a frequent en plein air painter and painted landscapes in a romantic-realistic style.
Plein-air painting, in its strictest sense, the practice of painting landscape pictures out-of-doors; more loosely, the achievement of an intense impression of the open air (French: plein air) in a landscape painting.
Simonsson is represented in the Östergötland County Museum in Linköping, the National Museum in Stockholm and the Uppsala University Library
