The burning of Troy. A well known story in Greek mythology. The Trojan War was waged against the city of Troy by the Achaeans (Greeks) after Paris of Troy took Helen from her husband Menelaus, king of Sparta. The war is one of the most important events in Greek mythology and has been narrated through many works.

This picture is painted with oil on copper in the early 19th c. The detailed painting has a great depth. The frame is also early 19th c and original to the painting. It is made of gilded wood with decorations of gilt led.

The back of the painting has a marking: N 22.

Really good condition.
