Pair of Directoire à L´Amerique Ormolu and Patinated Bronze Candelabra After a Design By Jean-Simon Deverberie
A very rare pair of directoire à L’Amérique or à l’Indien ormolu and patinated bronze candelabra after a design ca.1799 by Jean-Simon Deverberie (1764-1824). An Identical pair is in the Museum François Duesberg. The bronze figures with enameled eyes and feathered headdresses represent America. Another similar model but without the headdress represents Africa and the models where used on candelabras and clocks.
