A complete set of 32 Swedish pewter chess pieces designed by sculptor Tore Strindberg (1882–1968) and cast by Herman Bergman Konstgjuteri in Stockholm, Sweden, circa 1920–1930. The chess set consists of 16 pewter pieces with a natural silver-grey finish and 16 with a dark patinated surface. The figures are inspired by medieval characters and architecture, featuring crowned rulers, robed figures, mounted knights and castle-shaped rooks. Each piece is individually sculpted with carefully modelled details, giving the set a distinctive character. Several pieces bear Tore Strindberg's signature, T.S-g, together with the foundry mark Herm. Bergman Sthlm, identifying the renowned Stockholm art foundry responsible for casting the figures. Tore Strindberg was a Swedish sculptor known for his figurative works, including public monuments, portraits and decorative objects. His collaboration with Herman Bergman's foundry resulted in finely executed cast sculptures and decorative pieces.
