Dimensions: Height 4 cm (2 inches) x Width 4 cm (2 inches)

An elegant pair of Norwegian silver and guilloché enamel salt and pepper shakers by Aksel Holmsen, dating to the 1930s.

Crafted in 830 silver, the shakers feature conical, polished silver bases topped with circular, slightly domed enamelled discs. One is decorated in vibrant cobalt blue enamel and the other in soft yellow enamel, both with a delicate radiating guilloché pattern resembling flower petals. The translucent enamel reveals the finely engraved decoration beneath, creating a beautiful sense of depth.

The removable tops feature central perforated silver domes for dispensing salt and pepper. The undersides of the bases are gilded, providing a warm contrast to the polished silver exteriors.

Both pieces are stamped with Aksel Holmsen's maker's mark, depicting crossed goldsmith's tools, alongside the Norwegian silver fineness mark 830S and a small square N mark.

Aksel Holmsen's workshop in Sandefjord, Norway, was particularly known for its fine silver and enamel work.
