A Swedish 19th-century pipe bowl, finely carved from banded agate and mounted in silver, dated 1873. The striking natural pattern of the agate has been carefully incorporated into the angular form of the bowl. The silver fittings include a hinged, ventilated cover with a small finial and the original mount for the now missing pipe stem. The silver bears Swedish hallmarks, including the maker’s mark IPF and the date mark T5 for 1873. An unusual and beautifully crafted smoking accessory combining Swedish silverwork with the rich natural markings of agate.
