A charming French miniature fashion engraving, probably Paris, dating from around 1780. The finely engraved image depicts an elegant lady wearing an elaborate coiffure with a striking fan-shaped headdress, reflecting the extravagant fashions of late 18th-century France. The image is delicately hand-coloured and surrounded by a turquoise border. Presented in an original oval gilt-metal frame with beaded and twisted decoration and a small suspension ring. The wooden back is also original. A decorative and unusual example of French fashion imagery from the Louis XVI period.
